Duty and Student Duty

Duty

Our four boarding school teachers and their families live in the building. They take it in turns to be on duty. The boarding school supervisor is on duty from 8.30 a.m. until 2.30 p.m. on weekdays.

One of the boarding school teachers also functions as a kind of tutor for you at the beginning of your first year – arranging meetings, acting as a link between the school and your parents etc.

Your parents can have a meeting with this teacher if they wish it e.g. in conjunction with a parents’ consultation at the gymnasium.

Members of staff are always present at mealtimes. We check daily that you are present. It is therefore important that you inform the duty boarding school teacher if for some reason you cannot return at an agreed time e.g. if you stay the night at a friend’s place.

Student duty

You have to take part in the following duties:

  • Kitchen duty: laying out the food, clearing it away and washing up after brunch. You mustn’t go away the weekends you have kitchen duty
  • Corridor duty: Tidy up the corridors and the kitchenettes, and vacuum clean twice a week
  • Common Room duty: Tidy up in the common room and on the adjoining terrace
  • “Elkjaer’s” duty: Tidy up and clean the kitchen in the second corridor and the living room in the first corridor.
Boarding school teachers also need some privacy. Therefore, always start by contacting the boarding school teacher on duty - and, if it's night time, only if you have a serious problem such as illness.
